Hey Jo’s class of the month is a classic that always delivers; Core Collectives Velocity class. This boutique studio just off Kensington High Street has been a firm favourite since opening its beautiful industrial style doors. On first impressions it feels like you have walked into café or bar, with polished concrete floors and art for sale, it definitely does not scream hard workout waiting for you! The café was voted as one of the best in London and has an abundance of choice from smoothies to acai bowls and salads – the perfect post workout treat.
Core Collective focuses on three main classes: Resistance, Accelerate and Velocity, which all take place downstairs in spacious, slick studios. The class in question is a 45-minute high intensity HIIT class- tabata style training. A mix of circuits and intervals, working the entire body by combining cardio exercises with weights.
From the off its high obtain with booming music mixed in with encouragement, the trainer guides you through the warm-up then its off to the stations. There are 8 stations which include some familiar equipment such as the TRX and a rowing machine and then there’s the prowler; a weighted sleigh – legs should and will be feeling like jelly by now. Once you have done 2 rounds of the stations it’s abs and then a nice stretch, job done! Its not really that easy but its worth it.
This is a hard class, perhaps if your new or coming back from a fitness break this may not be the right choice. Velocity is the perfect class to push yourself and is great if your time poor and needing to efficient and effective with your workouts.
All classes at Core Collective are £28 pay as you go, alternatively you could try their monthly unlimited pass for £220. For more information visit their website – here
